Countdown 1.2
I’ve just released Countdown 1.2.
This update is mostly about widgets. Countdown has always been a simple way to keep track of dates that matter, but with 1.2 I wanted those dates to feel much better on the Home Screen.
Not every countdown has the same job. Some are things you’re looking forward to, some are things you need to remember, and some are just dates you want kept in view.
Beautiful Widgets
Countdown 1.2 adds a new set of widget designs, including photo widgets, percentage widgets, bold day-count widgets, and more visual styles.
The idea is simple: the widget should suit the countdown.
Something visual can use a photo. Something practical can stay clean and readable. Something you’re excited about can be a bit bolder.
More Personalisation
There are also more ways to customise how widgets look, with different colours and styles depending on the event.
This was the part of the update that made Countdown feel much more alive to me. The app is still deliberately simple, but the countdowns now have more personality.
Repeat Events and Better Notifications
Countdown 1.2 also adds support for repeat events, which is useful for dates that come around regularly.
Notifications have been improved too, so you can choose when you want to be reminded before an event.
A Nicer Event Editing Flow
I’ve also spent time polishing the event editing screen. It’s easier to set the date, add notes, configure repeats, choose notifications, and see how the widget will look.
It’s not the loudest part of the update, but it makes the app nicer to use every time you add or change something.
Available Now
Countdown 1.2 is available now on the App Store.
This update makes Countdown more visual, more personal, and more useful for the dates you want to keep in sight.
